The Iranian Government is ready to help Zimbabwe in the mining sector, diffusion of technology and in the provision of medical equipment provided the country (Zimbabwe) has viable business strategies.

Speaking after the meeting with the Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe, the head of Iranian Centre of Innovation and Technological Corporation Mr Hamid Amirinia said they discussed with Zimbabwe's Vice President Joice Mujuru and the Health Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa on the possible areas they could help the country with.

"We spoke with the Vice President and the Minister of Health about the opportunities that abound in the country in terms of manufacturing medical equipment and the provision of industrial technologies.

We told them that Iran is ready to consider proposals for investment in the health sector and transfer of bio and nano technology based on the country's strategies and areas of need. "We also proposed to set up a medical equipment plant here in Zimbabwe which will produce products for the local and regional market," he said.

Mr Amirinia added that the Iranian Government will respond to the proposals as soon as possible. He also said they were ready to help in the ICT sector.

IDC chief executive Mr Ndudzo noted that the demand for medical equipment in Zimbabwe is low but is high in the region.

Mr Amirinia is the leader of a six member business delegation that is currently in the country to scout for business opportunities.
