Tito Mboweni resigns from PPC Board

Tito Mboweni resigns from PPC Board
Published: 19 July 2017
South African cement producer Portland Pretoria Cement (PPC), which is the parent company of PPC Zimbabwe, has advised its shareholders that Mr Tito Mboweni, an independent non-executive director, and Chair of the Social, Ethics and Transformation Committee of the board of PPC, has resigned from the board of PPC with effect from 18 July 2017.

PPC's Board of Directors said it acknowledges the first black South African Governor of the South African Reserve Bank's valued contribution to the company with appreciation.

Mboweni joined the PPC Board in January 2017 after its former CEO Ketso Gordhan resigned suddenly and then demanded to be reinstated. His resignation and the ensuing drama brought issues previously hidden from view into the public domain. It led to shareholders demanding a vote on the replacement of board members.
