The visiting business delegation from United Arab Emirates (UAE) have held a meeting with tourism stakeholders and officials from the Victoria Falls Municipality where they reaffirmed their commitment in developing a state-of-the-art medical facility, a grand prix circuit and a hotel in the resort destination.

The investors from UAE who arrived in the country on Monday visited the country's premier tourist destination to scout for the investment opportunities under the special economic zones and to engage the relevant shareholders.

Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief Executive Mr Karikoga Kaseke says the tourism industry is looking forward to the implementation of the projects which will transform the resort town into a competitive tourism destination.

"We met them in Dubai and they are here to scout for investment opportunities. They have expressed interest in developing a state-of-the-art hospital, grand prix circuit and a hotel," said Mr Kaseke.

Victoria Falls Town Clerk Mr Ronnie Dube said the municipality is excited about the renewed confidence in the destination by investors and is looking forward to the implementation of the proposed projects by the UAE investors.

"The town has the potential to be a leading tourism destination in the world and we are excited about the renewed confidence in the destination since the advent new political dispensation," Mr Dube said.

Victoria Falls was designated as a special economic zone (SEZ) focusing on tourism and financial services.

Many international investors have expressed their interests to explore the investment opportunities under the SEZ with many observers confident that the resort town will emerge as a preferred tourism destination.
