Kajese heads new SEDCO board

Kajese heads new SEDCO board
Published: 07 April 2014
Government last week announced the appointment of Professor Kingston Kajese as the chairperson of SEDCO's new board.

Kingston Tabvana Kajese is a theologian, professor and administrator.

A holder of three masters degrees and graduate degrees in theology and education, kajese has worked both in Zimbabwe and in the USA as a program officer and field representative for both the Ford and Kellogg foundations.

Between 1983 and 1990 he served as the Southern African field director for both World Vision International and the International Voluntary Services.

For three years he was based out of Geneva, Switzerland and he trained and coordinated a network of 135 self help associations in ten Eastern and Southern African countries doing community development and rural organising.

His new job at SEDCO requires him to revamp the institution into an effective tool towards aiding the success of small businesses.

Kajese will be assisted by a 10-member board that includes Admore Kandelela, Petronella Nkomazana, Peter Madara, Molly Dingani, Otillia Danga, Edgar Nyoni, Godfrey Chitambo, Beauty Razemba and Curtis Van Heerden.

SEDCO was formed in 1983 through an Act of Parliament and falls under the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development.

Last year, SEDCO was rocked by scandals, with at least two audit reports suggesting that there was rampant corruption, fraud, corporate governance violations and financial mismanagement at the State-controlled money lender.
